Connie J. Mercer, 65, of Hiawatha, died Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories by Deacon Lanny Peterson of St. Pius V Catholic Church. Inurnment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday from 4-8 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Survivors include her daughter, Keri Nace Mercer, and her son, Dan Mercer, both of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, two sisters, Beverly (Frank) Glaser of Hiawatha and Diana Sindelar of Marion, Iowa, a brother-in-law, Bob (Karen) Mercer of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, a sister-in-law, Nancy (Jim) Mercer of Marion, Iowa and many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband, Ronald Dean Mercer.
Connie was born December 4, 1948 in Victor, Iowa, the daughter of Leslie and Evelyna (Saey) Nace. She married Ronald Dean Mercer on May 27, 1978 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Connie retired from Hunter Specialties Company as a Lead Supervisor. She was a generous and thoughtful person who enjoyed taking care of others, most especially her family. She was very proud of her children and their successes. Connie also enjoyed gardening and spending time with her beloved pets Gidget, Midnight, Taffy, and Keisha.
The family would like to thank the staff at the UIHC ER and on 4JPW for the excellent care provided during Connie’s last hours. Memorials can be directed to the family.
