She was always aunt SIS to me, because my mother called her SIS(for sister) as far back as I can remember. I must have been a teenager before I realized that SIS wasn't her name. She was a wonderful caring person who always made people feel welcome. I remember her cakes & pies for desert when we would visit the farm in the summer & she would make fresh tomato juice for my dad & I. There are many wonderful stories & memories of our family vacations to Iowa & the farm. I cannot make the funeral, but I am truly grateful that Charlene was one of my aunts and she is truly missed. We're so sorry that we can't be there for the service.
Aunt Sissy (I didn't call her Charlene either) always had such a positive attitude and a smile on her face. I wish we'd had the chance to see her when we were back in Iowa at Christmas.
We'll miss her!
