Irene Jeannette Duffy, 90, of Tampa, Florida and Hampton, Illinois formerly of Cedar Rapids died Thursday November 7, 2013 in Tampa. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday December 3, 2013 at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories where friends may call after 10 AM on Tuesday. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Chapel Mausoleum Columbarium. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her children; Patricia (Jeffrey) Osterhout of Victoria, Texas, Lynda Duffy of Eugene, Oregon, Kathy Carnicle of Cedar Rapids, Tim (Lori) Duffy of Rock Island, Illinois, Jayne (Randy) Glandorf of Cedar Rapids, Therese (Stephen) Connolly of Earlham, Tom (Becky) Duffy of Shellsburg, and Dan (Barb) Duffy of Kansas City, Missouri; two brothers Wallace Anderson of LaCrosse, Wisconsin and Bill (Elaine) Anderson of Mesquite, Nevada; two sisters Janis (Leon) Goudy of New Cumberland, Pennsylvania and Betty (Lamont ) Rommes of LaCrosse, Wisconsin; 30 plus grandchildren, 31 plus great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by Delmar, her loving husband of 41 years, Sherman Bunn, her loving companion of 12 years, a brother Robert Anderson, a sister LaVern Keister, and a granddaughter Tammy Osterhout.
Irene was born in LaCrosse WI to Edmund A. Anderson and Ruth (Becker) Anderson on December 31, 1922. She lived in TX for a short time before returning home to LaCrosse where she met and married Delmar Duffy on Sept. 8, 1944. They returned to Long Beach CA where he was stationed in the Army. After the birth of their 1st child, they returned to LaCrosse. They were blessed with six more children before moving to Cedar Rapids IA in 1962. Here, they made their final home and were blessed with one last child. Irene worked at Mercy Medical Center and later at Rockwell-Collins.
After the passing of her husband in May 1985, Irene spent winters in Tampa volunteering at hospitals, bowling with friends, and playing cards & bingo. Here she met her 2nd love, Sherman Bunn, and they spent years together traveling to many places like Australia, Turkey, Brazil, Germany, until his passing in June 2010. Irene continued to bowl well into her 80's and provided 27 years of volunteer service to the hospitals. Irene led a full and adventurous life. She enjoyed singing and was active in church choirs. Irene spent summers in Iowa and Illinois where she enjoyed the company of her family. She will be deeply missed by those who's lives she touched
